The corona pandemic affects the whole society and also the Helsinki Chamber Choir. Our Klang concert in March was cancelled at the last minute and our Maria concert in May is cancelled as well. We try to give these concerts later, if possible. As for our summer engagements, we are waiting for more information.
Wonderfeel Helsinki is a new kind of classical music event, combining wonderful music with a relaxed festival atmosphere, a versatile range of food and drink options and an interesting supplementary programme. The three days will be filled with chamber music classics as well as the most interesting contemporary music, surprising encounters and the natural peace of the lush Lapinlahti park area.

Helsinki Chamber Choir performed Gluck’s opera Orfeo ed Euridice at the Magnus Lindberg festival in October 2019 together with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, conductor Fabio Biondi and splendid soloists (Caitlin Hulcup, Helena Juntunen, Tuuli Lindeberg) – the performance can be seen at Yle Areena:

In January 2020 the Helsinki Chamber Choir will perform at the Sibafest-festival. The theme is #Äänessä [in voice]
“I have always been fascinated by how every person’s voice is wholly unique, like their fingerprints. Whenever we sing or make music, we put our entire range of human emotions into it, and this is what captivates us in every style of music, with words or without”, tells the artistic director Aija Puurtinen.
The autumn season programme 2019 is now published!

THIS AUTUMN the Helsinki Chamber Choir will present three very different concerts, demonstrating the versatility of this remarkable group of musicians. First up is a sextet visit to Italy, pairing recent works by Italian composers with selections from Carlo Gesualdo’s hyper-expressive 6th Book of Madrigals. In October, the choir returns to the Klang contemporary music series, bringing recent war-themed works by Finnish, American and Thai composers to Musiikkitalo.
As we move towards the 100th anniversary of Finland’s declaration of independence, the Helsinki Chamber Choir - Finland's only professional chamber choir - explores the country's place as part of our globalised world as well as in the light of history: the story of Finland began long before 1917.
These are exciting times for the Helsinki Chamber Choir! The autumn sees the group undertake major Nordic and North American tours, as well as hosting an international festival of professional choirs in Helsinki in late August. An album of music by Beat Furrer has just been released to critical acclaim, and a collection of works by Erik Bergman will follow later in the autumn. Recording sessions continue apace throughout the autumn and more releases are in the pipeline.
Eric Ericsons Kammarkör, Det Norske Solistkor, Ars Nova Copenhagen and Tenso Europe Chamber Choir travel to Helsinki at 26–28 August 2016. Read more.
