Pose-moi comme un sceau sur ton coeur
comme un sceau sur ton bras.
Car l’amour est fort comme la mort”

– Song of Songs 8:6

” Ma robe d’amour mon amour
Ma prison d’amour faite d’air léger
lîla lîla ma mémoire
ma caresse”

– Olivier Messiaen

Guillaume de Machaut was both a pioneer in polyphony and a poet. Olivier Messiaen himself also wrote the lyrics for Cinq rechants, one of the great choral classics of the 20th century, partly in a language he invented himself. Messiaen drew inspiration from Claude le Jeune as well as from the medieval troubadour Jaufré Rudel, the main character of Kaija Saariaho's first opera. The final hymn to love is an intense interpretation of the Song of Songs by Messiaen's friend Daniel-Lesur.
