THE EINOJUHANI RAUTAVAARA PRIZE

The Einojuhani Rautavaara Prize will consist of:

 

1. A cash prize of 7000 euros.

 

2. A commission to write a 12-minute work for the Helsinki Chamber Choir for its 2017/18 season. This work must be based on a European poem from the period 1914-1918 or otherwise have a clear connection with Tenso Network Europe’s 14-18: From Poetry to Music project (more information here: frompoetrytomusic.eu). The composer must clear the rights to any copyright material in advance of composing his/her piece. The value of the commission is 4000 euros (including the composer’s travel and accommodation for attending the first performance).

 

3. A repeat performance of the winning Competition entry during the Helsinki Chamber Choir’s 2016/17 season.

 

The winning work and the commissioned work will be forwarded to the member choirs of Tenso Network Europe with the recommendation of the jury, and if possible, performed during a future edition of the Tenso Days festival.
