Virgin Mary, full of grace. Maria, mother of God. Mary is holy and respected, but we’ll also meet her in more informal settings, at the meadow and at breakfast.
Maria is a theme very present in choral music from different times, and this concert offers a historical perspective, from medieval and renaissance masters Guillaume de Machaut and Josquin des Prez via Johannes Brahms to 20th century composers like Igor Stravinsky and Bohuslav Martinů.
JOSQUIN DES PREZ: Ave Maria – Virgo serena
BOHUSLAV MARTINU: Ctyri pisne o Marii (Four Marian Songs)
GUILLAUME DE MACHAUT: Credo from Messe de Nostre Dame
IGOR STRAVINSKY: Ave Maria
JOHANNES BRAHMS: 7 Marienlieder
The duration of the concert is approx. 50 minutes. We focus especially on safety. Only a limited number of tickets will be sold for the two concerts. Performers and audience will maintain distancing in accordance with the latest research on safety in choral performance and the public is encouraged to wear face masks.
