”Cuando sale la luna,
el mar cubre la tierra
y el corazón se siente
isla en el infinito.”

– Federico García Lorca

”Christ is the morning star
who when the night of this world is past
brings to his saints the promise of the light of life
and opens everlasting day”

– Prayer above the tomb of St Bede

A selection of works by Finnish and Estonian composers with lyrical threads all over Europe and across the Atlantic. While Jean Sibelius chose ardent Finnish folk poetry, Einojuhani Rautavaara set the lines of many significant poets to music. The compositions of Arvo Pärt are characterised by a timeless, meditative atmosphere, with spirituality as an important theme.
